The Writers’ Cottage

Boasting its historic clocktower, the Writers’ Cottage is a quintessential country home with modern amenities and tasteful decor. This unique cottage includes a comfortable sitting room, spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, and three bedrooms: the Virginia Room, the Morrison Suite (with an ensuite bathroom and claw-foot tub), and the Poet’s Corner, a charming single room.

With a rich history of being an enclave for notable writers, the Writers’ Cottage is a perfect option for a family or for a retreat to nurture your own creative endeavours.

The grounds surrounding the cottage include a pool heated with solar electricity, tennis courts, a summerhouse, and 22 acres of stunning gardens, orchards, topiary, and paddocks with peacefully grazing sheep and horses.

While you will feel you are in the middle of nowhere, the lovely village of Finchingfield, known as England’s most photographed village, is just down the road. The cottage is also situated 25 minutes from historic Saffron Walden and 45 minutes from Cambridge. Trains run regularly from London’s Liverpool Street Station and Tottenham Hale, with a 50-minute journey through idyllic countryside, arriving at the charming Audley End train station.
