The Manor House

Shore Hall, originally known as Wood Hall or Woodhall, dates from the late 16th Century, and like many buildings of this period, has been remodeled and extended over centuries to provide the exquisite family home it is today.

Our seven bedrooms are thoughtfully outfitted with luxury bed and bath linens, hand selected to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. Each room has its own unique look and personality, and they all share our commitment to beautiful detail, exceptional experience, and deep comfort.

Shore Hall boasts numerous beautifully designed living areas, including a formal drawing room with massive wood burning fireplace; a sitting room with a Frame TV and another wood burning fireplace; a cozy bookshelf-lined library; and a great hall with yet another massive wood burning fireplace.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is a chef’s dream. It includes an impressive AGA cooker fueled by solar energy, an induction hob, two refrigerators, and a Bosch dishwasher. The kitchen dining area seats six at a midcentury-modern table with stylish upholstered chairs. The formal dining room, seating ten, was designed by renowned architect Alan Bloomfield and extends over the cart pond with sweeping views of the property.

The Grounds

The grounds surrounding the cottage include a pool heated with solar electricity, tennis courts, a summerhouse, and 22 acres of stunning gardens, orchards, topiary, and paddocks with peacefully grazing sheep and horses.

While you will feel you are in the middle of nowhere, the lovely village of Finchingfield, known as England’s most photographed village, is just down the road. The cottage is also situated 25 minutes from historic Saffron Walden and 45 minutes from Cambridge. Trains run regularly from London’s Liverpool Street Station and Tottenham Hale, with a 50-minute journey through idyllic countryside, arriving at the charming Audley End train station.
