Nourish & Ferment for Gut Health

Sourdough & Kimchi Workshop - with Kev Palmer of Fire, Ferment & Smoke.

Join us for a gentle, hands-on morning at Shore Hall to explore the foundations of fermentation and the role gut-friendly foods can play in everyday well-being. Set within the peaceful surroundings of the house and gardens, this workshop invites you to slow down and reconnect with food more mindfully.

Fermentation is slow, simple and deeply nourishing. It invites us to work with natural processes - cultivating flavour, balance and a closer relationship with food. This morning workshop offers practical knowledge you can build on at your own pace, long after you leave Shore Hall. Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to further their skills and knowledge.

Throughout the morning, you’ll be guided through:

  • The principles of fermentation - how fermented foods support gut health and balance

  • Creating a sourdough starter - learning how to care for it and continue the process at home

  • Making Sourdough - learn the steps to baking your own Sourdough bread

  • Making a smoky kimchi - using traditional dry-salting methods and seasonal ingredients

  • Tasting your creations - sampling the ferments during the session

  • Space to pause and ask questions - with time to enjoy the calm of Shore Hall

What you’ll take home:

  • A live sourdough starter to continue your fermenting journey

  • The kimchi you’ve made during the workshop

  • A guidance and recipe pack to support you at home
